The Dynamic Duo - Keith and Ted Knock 'Em Dead

Kansas City - A collection of sports artist Ted Watts' display paintings and illustrations will be one of the feature attractions at the KC Hoops Extravaganza in the Kansas City Star Pavilion at the Sprint Center this Thursday-Saturday.

The KC Hoops Extravaganza - "A Celebration of Basketball" is produced by Keith Zimmerman and Double Doug Sports and Entertainment as an attraction for visitors to Kansas City in town for the Big XII Conference Basketball Tournament.

The event kicks off with an invitation only VIP Party and Charity Auction Thursday evening. In addition to Watts sports art exhibit, the KC Hoops Extravaganza hosts special guests Marques Haynes, the legendary Hall of Fame Harlem Globetrotter and famed streetball dribbler and actor Jay "Boogie" Brantley.

Along with celebrity appearances by area and nationally renowned athletes and coaches, Extravaganza visitors will enjoy screenings of the "Basketball Man" documentary featuring the life of Dr. James Naismith, "The Father of Basketball" and live coverage of Big XII basketball tournament telecasts.

Working from his Oswego, Kansas studio, Watts has produced over 6,000 works of art in a 35 year career -most of it devoted to sports themes. His client list includes over 150 collegiate clients, the United States Olympic Committee, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Watts' art hangs in all of the major sports Halls of Fame in America.

He is most famed nationally for his series of 73 portraits of the Heisman Trophy Winners that hangs in the College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend, Indiana and a 33' x 10' mural tribute to the Oklahoma Sooners football history in the Barry Switzer Center on the OU campus in Norman.

The long time Zimmerman and Watts association has been responsible for creating several sports art classics. Most notable among them are a salute to Oscar Robertson, "College Basketball Player of the Century" and a 30th reunion tribute to the "Kansas City Chiefs - Super Bowl IV Champions" which will both be on display at the KC Hoops Extravaganza.
